He is a flashy, attractive, 16.1 hand QH (not registered) gelding who is approximately 12 years old. When we purchased him, we were told that he was started as a driving horse in Amish country (Wayne/Holmes county Ohio). We have not had the opportunity to drive him ourselves so we cannot comment on his ability level. We have used him as a riding horse and have shown him locally mostly in 4-H events. He is wonderful on trails and a star at obstacle courses such as those used in mounted patrol training. Without flinching, he walks over lit flairs and mattresses. He is sound. He does best with front shoes when working. We are not offering him for sale because he has a chronic medical condition which requires medication but is not an immediate threat to his life. He is HYPP N-H and he requires medication and a diet low in potassium. He does best with lots of turnout time and a consistent level of exercise. We want to find a safe and appropriate adoptive home for him where his needs will be met. He would be a good fit for someone looking for a companion horse, driving horse or a trail horse. Being ridden in a show ring is not something he particularly enjoys so, if you are looking for a free horse for your child show, he would not be a good option. He can be a challenging mount when a lot is being asked of him or if he is being ridden by someone timid or inexperienced. As a result, we don't believe he is a good choice for someone who wants a show horse. We have taken care of him for nearly 7 years now and the decision to re-home him is very difficult particularly for our kids. Serious inquiries only.
